Which God is so great as our God!
Sunday the 24thJuly 2011 was an amazing day in the
Patriarchate of Antioch, in which the Mariamie Cathedral in Damascus
hosted a great Antiochian celebration. On this day all the voices
acclaimed "worthy!" to His Grace Ignatius Alhoshi, who was elevated by
His Beatitude Ignatius IV to the holy archpriesthood as an auxiliary
bishop to his Eminence, Metropolitan John of Europe. As well as His
Beatitude many hierarchs of the holy Antiochian throne were present.
A large numberof the faithful participated also.They came from Damascus and from other eparchies.
After presenting his confession of faith and receiving the
laying on of hands, the new bishop was dressed by His Beatitude in his
vestments while the faithful continued to acclaim "worthy!" At the end
of the Divine Liturgy, His Grace received from his Beatitude the
episcopal staff. His Beatitude and His Grace, putting on all their
liturgical vestments, left the Church preceded by the Archbishops, the
Priests and Deacons for the Patriarchal Reception Room. The faithful
then congratulated His Grace and received from him the blessing of God.
May God strengthen his Grace Ignatius and enable him to serve helpfully the Church of Christ.
