His Eminence John metropolitan of Europe had a dinner with the members of the association Pro oriente. He met the president Mr. Johann Marte, the Vice President Fr. Rudolf Prokschi and General Secretary Florian Tuder. This is an association based in Vienna. Its aim is to improve and promote good relations between Catholic Church and the Oriental Churches. The association is renowned for its role in publishing books and preparing conferences and congresses.
The meeting was an opportunity for the President to explain the aims and the activities of the Association. His Eminence also talked about the situation of the Antiochian Archdiocese in Europe and about its activities. He emphasized also the importance of the role of the University of Balamand and that of St. John of Damascus Theological Institute within the Antiochian Church. They also discussed possible ways of collaborating in the service of the Church of Christ in Europe and in Antioch.
